Named for its place in history - stagecoaches passed nearby this property on their western journeys in the 1800's - Stagecoach Vineyard ascends from 900 feet above sea level where it adjoins the Oakville appellation to an altitude of 1,700 feet on the southern side of Pritchard Hill. The shallow, rocky, volcanic soils stress the vines, encouraging fruit with intense flavors and colors.
Stagecoach is blessed with rocky south-facing slopes containing perfect terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as high elevation, south-facing rocky hillsides that are ideal for Syrah. 10 other grape varietals are planted in the hillside, each location carefully selected to suit each varietal. These blocks of grapes give our winemakers the palette to create the distinctive, structured, intense wines which reflect the unique terroir.
